2014 SHHA 5K Chili Dump Sponsored by The John Herman Team of Hometown Real Estate

The John Herman team of Hometown Real Estate is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the 2nd annual Shady Hill 5K Chili Dump Run, to benefit the Misericordia center of Chicago. Last year this event raised over $5000 to benefit the Misericordia complex, a home with support services for prople with developmental disabilities. The event takes place Sunday, September 21, 2014.
Last year, the fundraiser featured the run, and this it has added a “Chili Dump” to the activities. After the race, participants and supporters will bring their favorite chili and it will all be dumped into one big pot, mixing the flavors for a one-of-a-kind taste! There will also be a live and silent auction following the race.

The race will begin and end at the Shady Hill Marina, with the course itself winding through the streets of Shady Hill and Barrington Harbor neighborhoods. An optional 2K walk course map will also be posted.
The Shady Hill 5K benefit was organized and created by a local teenager Ian Fournie’s desire to show support for his former classmate and friend, Alex Bronton. Alex is a 16-year old boy, who previously resided in Lake Barrington Shores, and is currently living at the Misericordia complex in Chicago, Illinois. He has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. Ian’s Fournie’s support for Alex by creating the Shady Hill 5K Run/Walk is a wonderful example of how caring can and will make a difference.
Ian Fournie is a 14-year old resident of the Shady Hill community and a cross-country runner at Barrington High School. He met Alex while they both attended Barrington Middle School, Station Campus, and the two quickly became friends. They have remained friends and often communicate through phones calls or over Skype, and are able to meet in-person several times a year. The proceeds from the first Shady Hill 5K Run/Walk will go to support Misericordia, the very organization that provides Alex with the life-changing supportive services he requires. Misericordia is a not-for-profit organization that operates in Chicago, Illinois. This organization provides vital supportive services to people in the area who have mild to severe developmental disabilities. It is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been in operation since 1921. Its 31-acre campus provides services for up to 600 children and adults in the greater Chicago area. The main goal of the organization is to provide the services necessary to allow residents with developmental disabilities to lead a life with maximum independence.

The John Herman Team is proud to help sponsor the SHHA Chili Dump 5K Run/Walk to Benefit Misericordia.
For more information on the event contact Rob & Dawn & Ian Fournie at 847-382-6068 or 847-721-2043.
